Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menggambarkan: (1) Nilai-nilai pendidikan karakter yang termuat dalam novel Bridge to Terabithia dan Island of the Blue Dolphin (2) Sejauh mana novel-novel tersebut dapat dijadikan bahan ajar Bahasa Inggris bermuatan pendidikan karakter. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif kualitatif dengan menggunakan metode analisis isi. Penelitian kualitatif mengungkapkan gejala secara menyeluruh, dan sesuai dengan konteks permasalahannya dipecahkan melalui pengumpulan data dari latar alami dengan memanfaatkan diri peneliti sebagai instrumen kunci (Djukri dkk, 2010, p.18). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) Novel Bridge to Terabithia dan Island of the Blue Dolphin memberikan penggambaran contoh nilai-nilai pendidikan karakter dengan frekuensi dan variasi yang tinggi juga dengan kualitas penggambaran yang kuat dan realistis, (2) Kedua novel memiliki bahasa yang imajinatif dan kisah yang inspiratif, (3) Kedua novel relevan dengan tujuan pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ BRIDGE TO TERABITHIA AND ISLAND OF THE BLUE DOLPHIN AS INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIAL EMBODYING CHARACTER EDUCATION Abstract This study aims at describing: (1) Character education values embodied in the novel Bridge to Terabithia and Island of the Blue Dolphin, (2) The extent to which those novels can be utilized as English instructional material embodying character education.  This study is a descriptive qualitative research, which employs content analysis method. Qualitative research describes the entire indications based on the context of the matter which is solved through collecting data of natural context employing the researcher as key instruments (Djukri dkk, 2010, p.18).The results of the study show that: (1) Bridge to Terabithia and Island of the Blue Dolphin give examples of high frequency and high variation as well as strong and realistic description of character education values, (2) Both novels have imaginative language and inspirational story, (3) Both novels are relevant to English teaching and learning objective.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan variasi keluasan makna interpersonal pada teks “Laskar Pelangi” berbahasa Indonesia, Inggris, dan Melayu serta faktor-faktor yang mendorong terjadinya tingkat variasi keluasan makna tersebut. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif dengan objek penelitian adalah variasi keluasan makna interpersonal yang terealisasi dalam sistem gramatika MOOD pada tiap klusa dari ketiga teks multitranslasi. Data dianalisis dengan teknik hubung banding dengan membandingkan masing-masing klausa dari ketiga teks tersebut. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan tingginya tingkat variasi keluasan makna interpersonal pada T1:T2, sebesar 23,89, dan rendahnya tingkat variasi tersebut pada T1:T3, sebesar 2,82. Tingginya tingkat variasi disebabkan penambahan klausa pada T2, pengaruh skrip cerita film, faktor tujuan, serta faktor pembaca T2. Rendahnya tingkat variasi disebabkan persamaan akar bahasa dan budaya antara T1 dan T3 serta faktor tujuan penerjemahan. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ THE INTERPERSONAL MEANING BREADTH VARIATIONS ON MULTILINGUAL TRANSLATION TEKS “LASKAR PELANGI” IN BAHASA INDONESIA, ENGLISH, AND MALAY Abstract This study is aimed to describe the interpersonal meaning breadth variations on multilingual translation teks “Laskar Pelangi” in bahasa Indonesia, English, and Malay also to explore the motivating factors that occur inside those variations. This study was a descriptive qualitative research study. The object was interpersonal meaning breadth variations that were showed by the MOOD grammatical system in the clauses of the multilingual translation texts. The data were analyzed by comparing the realization of functional elements of the MOOD grammatical system in each clause of the text. The results of this study show that variations in interpersonal meaning breadth of T1:T2 are high, 23.89 whereas the variations of T1:T3 are low, 2.82. For T1:T2, the variation in interpersonal meaning breadth is high, because of the addition of clauses in T2, the influence of movie script, the translation purpose, and the target text’s readers. Meanwhile, for T1:T3, the variation in interpersonal meaning breadth is low because of the non-existence of new clauses in T2, the same language root of Indonesian and Malay and the purpose of translation. Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui peran simple code dalam koreksi kesalahan berbahasa peserta Darmasiswa di Universitas Muhammadiyah Surabaya tahun ajaran 2011/2012. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di kelas Darmasiswa Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan Universitas Muhammadiyah Surabaya mulai November 2011 sampai April 2012. Sumber data penelitian ini adalah bentuk ujaran yang dihasilkan oleh dosen, penutur, dan peserta Darmasiswa. Instrumen pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan cara pengamatan, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Instrumen penelitian ini adalah peneliti sendiri. Analisis data menggunakan metode padan intralingual. Hasil penelitian ini adalah sebagai berikut. (1) Peran bahasa dosen (teacher-talk) memberikan koreksi kesalahan berbahasa Indonesia peserta Darmasiswa dalam hal kesalahan fonologis, sintaksis, leksikon, dan morfologis. Jenis koreksi berupa pengulangan, mengubah, koreksi eksplisit, pancingan, dan klarifikasi. (2) Peran bahasa penutur (foreigner-talk) memberikan koreksi kesalahan berbahasa Indonesia peserta Darmasiswa dalam hal kesalahan fonologis, sintaksis, dan leksikon. Jenis koreksi berupa pengulangan, mengubah, dan koreksi eksplisit. (3) Peran bahasa-antara (interlanguage-talk) memberikan koreksi kesalahan berbahasa Indonesia dalam hal kesalahan fonologis dan kesalahan leksikon. Jenis koreksi berupa koreksi diri dan koreksi teman. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ THE ROLE OF THE SIMPLE CODE IN THE CORRECTION OF LANGUAGE MISTAKES MADE BY THE DARMASISWA PARTICIPANTS IN THE MUHAMMADIYAH UNIVERSITY OF SURABAYA   Abstract This study aims to find out the role of the simple code in the correction of language mistakes made by the Darmasiswa participants in the Muhammadiyah University of Surabaya in the academic year of 2011/2012. This study employed the qualitative method. It was conducted in the Darmasiswa class of the Study Program of the Indonesian Language and Literature, the Faculty of Teacher Training and Educational Sciences, the Muhammadiyah University of Surabaya from November 2011 to April 2012. The data sources in this study were the forms of utterances by lecturers, speakers, and Darmasiswa participants. The data were collected through observations, interviews, and documenta-tion. The research instrument was the researcher himself. The data were analyzed using the intra-lingual correspondence method. The results of the study are as follows. (1) The role of the teacher-talk in the correction of the Indonesian language mistakes made by the Darmasiswa participants is in pho-nology, syntax, lexicon, and morphology. The types of the correction include repetition, modification, explicit correction, stimulation, and clarification. (2) The role of the foreigner-talk in the correction of the Indonesian language mistakes made by the Darmasiswa participants is in phonology, syntax, and lexicon. The types of the correction include repetition, modification, and explicit correction. (3) The role of the interlanguage-talk in the correction of the Indonesian language mistakes is in phonology and lexicon. The types of the correction include self-correction and peer-correction. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeteksi dan mendeskripsikan jenis-jenis kesalahan kalimat yang meliputi kesalahan diksi, frasa, konjungsi, dan preposisi. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Data penelitian berupa satuan-satuan ungkapan kalimat yang muncul dalam 9 karangan berbahasa Indonesia mahasiswa Jawaharlal Nehru University, India. Hasil analisis kesalahan kalimat menemukan kesalahan diksi, frasa, preposisi dan konjungsi pada karangan mahasiswa Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) New Delhi India semester 1 dan 2 tahun pelajaran 2012/2013. Jumlah kesalahan diksi mencapai 61.8% dari seluruh kesalahan kalimat yang ditentukan, sekaligus sebagai kesalahan yang paling banyak terjadi. Kesalahan kalimat terbesar berikutnya adalah frasa sebanyak 23,6%. Selanjutnya adalah kesalahan konjungsi, yakni sebanyak 10,7%. Kesalahan yang paling sedikit adalah kesalahan preposisi sebanyak 3,9%, yang menunjukkan bahwa tingkat penguasaan preposisi adalah unsur dalam kalimat yang paling mudah dipahami. Penguasaan kata baku adalah salah satu faktor kunci penguasaan kalimat. Banyak kesalahan kalimat berkaitan dengan kata baku yang kurang tepat. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ ERROR ANALYSIS OF SENTENCES IN INDONESIAN COMPOSITION OF STUDENTS IN JAWAHARLAL NEHRU UNIVERSITY, NEW DELHI, INDIA   Abstract This research is aimed to detect and describe the types of sentence errors that include errors in the diction, phrase, conjunction, and preposition. The type of this research is qualitative research by using descriptive method. The data source of this research is obtained from 9 compositions in Indonesian language of Jawaharlal Nehru University Students, India. The analysis result found a phenomenon of errors in the diction, phrase, preposition, and conjunction of the students’ compositions in Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) New Delhi India in the first year of academic year 2012/2013. The number of errors in the diction reaches 61.8% of the whole sentence errors, and this matter shows the case that often happens among the students. The second biggest error found is the errors of the phrase. It reaches 23.6%. Conjunction errors are in the amount of 10.7%, and error in preposition is the least of all, 3.9%, which shows that the mastery of preposition as the element of sentence as the easiest point to learn. Thus, it can be known and concluded that the orientation of the observation held shows that the mastery of the standard or the basic forms of word is one of the keys of mastering sentence for there are many errors in relation with the basic form of words.Keywords: error analysis, error of diction, phrase, conjunction, and preposition.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan meningkatnya keterampilan menulis deskripsi berbahasa Jawa siswa kelas X SMA N 2 Kebumen dengan menggunakan pendekatan proses dan media foto. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas atau classroom action research. Desain yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah desain penelitian tindakan Kemmis dan Taggart. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dua siklus. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas X2 SMA Negeri 2 Kebumen tahun pelajaran 2011/2012 yang berjumlah 32 siswa. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan observasi, catatan lapangan dan tes. Validitas yang digunakan adalah validitas demo-krasi, validitas proses dan validitas dialogis. Teknik yang digunakan untuk menganalisis data dalam penelitian tindakan ini adalah deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan (1) siswa dapat menemukan ide lebih cepat, (2) siswa dapat membuat kerangka karangan, (3) siswa dapat mengembangkan kerang-ka karangan, (4) siswa dapat berpikir sistematis, (5) siswa semakin antusiasnya dalam mengikuti pembelajaran menulis karangan, (6) siswa paham melakukan proses mengarang. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ PHOTOGRAPH MEDIA TO IMPROVE THE DESCRIPTION WRITING SKILL OF THE STUDENTS AT SMA NEGERI 2 KEBUMEN   Abstract This research is aimed to describe and to explain the improvement in the description writing skill of the tenth grade students at SMA N 2 Kebumen by using  approach process and photography media. This research is classroom action research or classroom action research. The design used in this research was action research design by Kemmis and Taggart. The subject of the research was X2 class students at SMA Negeri 2 Kebumen in the academic year of 2011/2012, consisted of 32 students. The data collection was done by using observation, field notes and description during the time of the learning activity and also tests (pre test and post test). The validity used was democratic validity because the researcher truthfully collaborated either with the teacher and the students, the research also used process validity, marked by accuracy in the research process and dialogic validity can be shown that the research was implemented by having dialogue with the teacher and the collaborator to seek for critics and suggestion. Reliability in this action research was based on contextual and situational and localized. The technique used to analyze the data in this action research was descriptive. The monitoring on the learning process shows that (1) the students can find ideas faster, (2) the students can make essay framework, (3) the students can develop essay framework, (4) the students can think systematically, (5) the students are more enthusiastic in attending the learning of writing essay, (6) the students understand the process of writing essay. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pembelajaran menulis puisi bebas melalui media lagu medley siswa kelas VIII B SMP Sintang. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas VIII B SMP Sintang. Penelitian ini merupakan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK). Prosedur pelaksanaan dan implementasi penelitian dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus. Teknik pengumpulan data berupa obsevasi, wawancara, catatan lapangan, angket, evaluasi dan dokumentasi. Instrumen pengumpulan data meliputi lembar wawancara, lembar catatan lapangan, lembar angket, lembar tes hasil belajar dan lembar portofolio serta dokumentasi foto kegiatan. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis data kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan media lagu medley dapat meningkatkan pembelajaran menulis puisi bebas. Peningkatan hasil atau produk dapat dilihat dari perbandingan skor rata-rata keterampilan menulis puisi bebas siswa pada setiap siklus. Nilai rata-rata siswa pada tahap pratindakan adalah 55,23, pada saat siklus I meningkat menjadi 71,18, dan pada siklus II meningkat menjadi 73,4. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ DEVELOPING THE TEACHING OF FREE VERSE WRITING THROUGH MEDLEY SONG MEDIA TO GRADE VIII STUDENTS OF SMP SINTANG   Abstract This study aims to improve the teaching of free verse writing through medley song media to Grade VIII B students of SMP Sintang. The research subjects were Grade VIII B students of SMP Sintang,. This was a classroom action research (CAR). The research procedure and implementation were conducted in two cycles. The data were collected through observations, field notes, questionnaires, evaluations, and documentations. The data collecting instruments included interview sheets, field note sheets, questionnaire sheets, learning achievement test sheets, portfolio sheets, and documents of activity photographs. The data were analyzed by means of quantitative and qualitative techniques. The results of the study showed that the use of medley song media is capable of improving the teaching of free verse writing. The improvement of the outcome or product is indicated by the comparison of the students’ mean score of the free verse writing skill in each cycle. Their mean score in the pre-action stage is 55.23, improving to 71.18 in Cycle I and 73.4 in Cycle II. Keywords: free verse writing, medley song media

Abstract

Permasalahan penelitian adalah perbandingan keefektifan metode diskusi kelompok dan bermain peran dalam meningkatkan keterampilan berbicara bahasa Indonesia mahasiswa di Thammasat University, Thailand. Tujuan penelitian untuk menentukan metode pembelajaran yang lebih efektif antara metode diskusi kelompok dan bermain peran dalam pembelajaran keterampilan berbicara bahasa Indonesia mahasiswa di Thammasat University, Thailand. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen semu. Populasi penelitian adalah seluruh mahasiswa jurusan kajian Asia Tenggara di Thammasat University yang mengambil mata kuliah pembelajaran bahasa Indonesia sebagai bahasa asing. Sampel penelitian adalah mahasiswa yang belajar bahasa Indonesia di kelas dasar. Pengambilan data menggunakan instrumen lembar penilaian performansi keterampilan berbicara bahasa Indonesia. Validitas instrumen menggunakan validitas isi. Reliabilitas instrumen diperiksa melalui teknik interrater. Data kemudian dianalisis menggunakan Independent Sample Test dengan bantuan program SPSS 17.0 for windows. Hasil penelitian membuktikan bahwa metode bermain peran lebih efektif daripada metode diskusi kelompok untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berbicara bahasa Indonesia mahasiswa Thammasat University, Thailand. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ THE EFFECTIVENESS OF PROMOTING THE INDONESIAN SKILL THROUGH GROUP DISCUSSION AND ROLE PLAY METHODS ON THE STUDENT OF THAMMASAT UNIVERSITY, THAILAND   Abstract The problem is the comparative effectiveness method for improving the Indonesian speaking skill of the students of Thammasat university,Thailand. The study is aimed to discribe the effectiveness comparison of the more effective method between group discussion and role play methods in improving the Indonesian speaking skill of the students at Thammasat university,Thailand. The research was quasi-experimental. The population was all of the Southeast Asian Studies Program students of Thammasat University, Thailand who took a course in the teaching of Indonesian as a foreign language. The sample was the students at the beginning class. The data collection used the performance appraisal instrument sheets of Indonesian speaking skill. The validity of the instrument was using content validity. The reliability of the instrument examined using the interrater technique. The data were analyzed using Independent Sample Test with SPSS 17.00 for Windows. The result of the research proves that the role play method is more effective than the group discussion method in improve the Indonesian speaking skill of the students of Thammasat University, Thailand. Abstract

Bahasa Jawa dalam tayangan berita Pawartos Ngayogyakarto belum cukup sempurna karena masih ditemukan kesalahan atau kerancuan fono-ortografis dan oto-fonologis dalam pemakaiannya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: (1) mendeskripsikan kerancuan fono-ortografis dan oto-fonologis pada Bahasa Jawa ragam lisan dan tulis dalam berita Bahasa Jawa di Jogja TV. (2) mengetahui penyebab kerancuan fono-ortografis dan oto-fonologis pada Bahasa Jawa ragam lisan dan tulis dalam berita Bahasa Jawa di Jogja TV. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian dengan pendekatan linguistik yang dalam pelaksanaannya menerapkan metode penelitian linguistik. Penelitian ini mengambil data dari lapangan dan kepustakaan. Data utama penelitian ini adalah data lisan, berupa tuturan dalam siaran berita Jogja TV serta wawancara dengan pembaca berita dan juga naskah yang dibaca oleh pembaca berita. Sampel penelitian ini adalah tuturan dalam siaran berita Pawartos Ngayogyakarta yang disiarkan di Jogja TV selama satu bulan di bulan Januari 2011. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan ada empat teknik, yaitu teknik rekam, teknik catat, teknik simak dan teknik cakap. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kesalahan fono-ortografis yang terjadi diantaranya pada fonem vokal /I/,/i/,/e/,/a/,/ǝ/,/o/,/u/, dan konsonan /dh/,/d/,/t/, /th/. Adapun kesalahan dari segi oto-fonologis yang terjadi adalah pada fonem vokal /I/, /i/, /e/, /a/, /ǝ/, /ɛ/,/o/,/u/,/U/,/ɔ/, dan konsonan /ḍh/,/dh/,/ṭ/,/t/. Kesalahan yang terjadi diakibatkan oleh latar belakang sosial budaya dan pendidikan pembaca berita dimana tidak semua pembaca berita berasal dari daerah Jawa Tengah dan DIY serta tidak semua memiliki latar belakang pendidikan Bahasa Jawa. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ CONFUSIONS IN JAVANESE LANGUAGE USAGE SEEN FROM PHONO-ORTHOGRAPHIC AND OTO-PHONOLOGIC ASPECTS IN SPOKEN AND WRITTEN REGISTERS IN JOGJA TV’S   Abstract This study aims to: (1) describes the confusion of fono-orthographic and phonological auto-range in Java spoken and written language in the Java language news in Jogja TV, (2) to know the confusion cause of fono-orthographic and phonological autorange in spoken and written Java language news in Jogja TV. The research drew on data from field and literature. The Main Outcome Data is oral data, in the form of speech in Jogja TV newscasts and interviews with news readers and texts that are read by the newsreader. Data from the field in the form of data is written and oral data Informants were selected from Ngayogyakarta Pawartos newsreader. This research is a linguistic approach in practice applying qualitative research methods. The news broadcast every day, in order to obtain the news footage as 30 samples in this study. Data collection techniques used there are four techniques, namely recording techniques, technical notes, refer to the technical and engineering competence. The analysis in this study includes the use dishonest methods and methods agih. The analysis showed that fono-orthographic errors that occurred among the phoneme vocal . The error in terms of a vokal /I/,/i/,/e/,/a/,/ǝ/,/o/,/u/, and consonan /dh/,/d/,/t/,/th/.uto-phonological happens is the phoneme /I/, /i/, /e/, /a/, /ǝ/, /ɛ/,/o/,/u/,/U/,/ɔ/, and consonan /ḍh/,/dh/,/ṭ/,/t/. Errors that occur due to the socio-cultural background and educational anchor in which not all readers news from the area of Central Java and Yogyakarta, and not all have the educational background of the Java language. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan struktur puisi dan potret sosial sepuluh sajak Remy Sylado. Selain itu, penelitian ini juga bertujuan untuk merelevansikan potret sosial masyarakat Indonesia dalam sepuluh sajak Remy Sylado dengan pembelajaran sastra di Sekolah Menengah Atas (SMA). Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah kumpulan puisi Kerygma Martyria karya Remy Sylado. Objek dalam penelitian ini adalah potret sosial dan relevansinya dengan pembelajaran sastra di SMA dalam sepuluh sajak Remy Sylado. Data dalam penelitian ini adalah kata-kata yang termuat dalam sepuluh sajak Remy Sylado yang dipilih dengan menggunakan teknik sampel bertujuan. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah teknik pembacaan dan pencatatan. Teknik analisis data menggunakan pembacaan semiotika Michael Riffaterre dengan pendekatan sosiologi sastra Rene Wellek Austin Warren. Berdasarkan pembacaan semiotika terhadap sepuluh sajak Remy Sylado disimpulkan beberapa potret sosial masyarakat Indonesia yang meliputi (1) Potret Modernitas di Negara Indonesia yang terdapat dalam sajak “Zaman Azab“, “Di Atas Azab Pena Berpihak”, “Asap Telah Menutup Kota Perkasa” (2) Potret Kolonialisme dan Ekspansi kapitalisme yang terdapat dalam sajak “Origo Mali“, “Cenderamata”, “Uang” (3) Potret kota, Pembangunan, dan Kapitalisme yang terdapat dalam sajak “Pena”, “Pemain Kambing Hitam”, “Si Miskin”, dan “Apakah Negerinya Masih”. Potret sosial dalam sepuluh sajak Remy Sylado relevan dengan pembelajaran sastra di SMA. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ SOCIAL PORTRAIT IN TEN POEMS REMY SYLADO AND RELEVANCE TO LEARNING LITERATURE IN HIGH SCHOOL   Abstract This study aimed to describe the structure of the poem and the social portrait in ten poems Remy Sylado. In addition, this study also aimed to relevance of the social portrait of Indonesian society in Remy Sylado’s ten poems with learning literature in high school. Sources of data in this study include the subject adn object. Subject in this study are a collection of poems Kerygma Martyria written by Remy Sylado. Object in this study are a social potrait and relevance to learning literature in high school to ten poems Remy Sylado. The data in this study are words contained in Remy Sylado’s ten poems were selected using purposive sampling technique. Data collection techniques used in this study are reading and writing. Data analysis used Michael Riffaterre semiotic reading by using the sociological literature approach written by Rene Wellek Austin Warren. Based on the semiotic reading of the ten poems Remy Sylado it was discovered portrait Indonesian society which includes (1) Images of modernity in Indonesia contained in the poem "Zaman Azab", "Di Atas Azab Pena Berpihak", and "Asap Telah Menutup Kota Perkasa" (2) Portrait of colonialism and the expansion of capitalism contained in the poem "Origo Mali", "Cenderamata", and "Uang" (3) Images of the city, development, and capitalism contained in the poem "Pena","Pemain Kambing Hitam", "Si Miskin", and "Apakah Negerinya Masih". Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kesalahan-kesalahan yang terdapat dalam penggunaan deiksis persona, deiksis tempat, dan deiksis waktu dalam karangan mahasiswa pada Niveau A2 di Jurusan Sastra Jerman UM serta mengetahui faktor-faktor penyebabnya. Subjek penelitian adalah karangan mahasiswa yang dihasilkan dalam matakuliah Aufsatz II. Objek penelitiannya adalah kesalahan deiksis persona, kesalahan deiksis tempat, dan kesalahan deiksis waktu. Proses pengumpulan data menggunakan metode simak yang terdiri dari teknik dasar yang berwujud teknik sadap dan dilanjutkan dengan teknik simak bebas libat cakap. Instrumen penelitian adalah peneliti (human instrument). Keabsahan data dicapai melalui intrarater dan interrater. Selanjutnya data dianalisis dengan metode agih. Hasil penelitian ini adalah sebagai berikut. Dalam karangan mahasiswa ditemukan kesalahan-kesalahan yang terkandung dalam deiksis persona, deiksis tempat, dan deiksis waktu. Faktor yang menyebabkan kesalahan tersebut adalah interferensi, over generalisasi, strategi komunikasi, elemen pembelajaran bahasa asing, kurangnya kontras, kondisi sosial psikologis pembelajar, efek domino, dan redundansi. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ DEIXIS ERRORS IN STUDENTS’ ESSAYS IN THE DEPARTMENT OF GERMAN LITERATURE OF UM Abstract This study aimed at determining the erros in using personal deixis, spatial deixis, and temporal deixis in students’ essays on Niveau A2 in the Department of German Literature of UM and also aimed at determining the factors that motivate the occurrence of deixis errors. The subjects were essays written by students which were made in the course of Aufsatz II. The research objects were personal deixis errors, spatial deixis errors, and temporal deixis errors. The data were collected using the observation method which consisted of basic techniques in the form of recording techniques and continued by using the technique of uninvolved-conversation observation. The research instrument in this study was the researcher (human instrument). The data trustworthiness was gained through intrarater and interrater. Furthermore, the data were analyzed by using the distributional method.The results of this study are as follows. In the essay of Niveau A2 students in the German Literature Department of UM, there are some errors in using personal deixis, spatial deixis, and temporal deixis. Errors of personal deixis are realized in six forms of pronouns: personal pronouns, relative pronouns, indefinite pronouns, demonstrative pronouns, and possessive pronouns. Errors of spatial deixis are realized in adverbs and verbs. Errors of temporal deixis are realized in adverbs and tenses. The occurrences of those errors are motivated by a variety of factors, i.e. interference, over-generalization, communication strategies, elements of foreign language learning, a lack of contrast, the students’ social psychological conditions, domino effect, and redundancy.
